Hilton Head and the Low Country Sights

Sea Pines Forest Preserve

Sea Pines Forest Preserve Review

Walking trails take you past a stocked fishing pond, a waterfowl pond, and a 3,400-year-old Native American shell ring at this 605-acre public wilderness tract. Pick up the extensive activity guide at the Sea Pines Welcome Center to take advantage of goings-on—moonlight hayrides, storytelling around campfires, and alligator- and bird-watching boat tours. The preserve is part of the grounds at Sea Pines Resort. Head to the preserve's outdoor chapel for some quiet meditation. The chapel overlooks a small lake and has five wooden pews and a lectern, all with the Prayer of St. Francis engraved in the wood. You can get directions at the Sea Pines Welcome Center.
