Fodor's Review

Anchored by Folly Beach Pier, this is the Lowcountry's most iconic summer playground. To the left of the stairway to the pier is a good seafood restaurant called Blu, with a bar, deck, and incredible ocean views. Street parking is free, but to avoid a ticket, all four wheels have to be on the grass, not the pavement. Small lots right next to the beach access cost $1 per hour. If you're a surfer, keep driving until you reach Folly's Washout. Amenities: food and drink; lifeguards; parking (fee). Best for: swimming; surfing.
