The theme here is evident in the vivid paintings of creamy white blossoms that adorn the walls. A visit from Oprah Winfrey revived this culinary landmark, but many locals, particularly the younger ones, prefer its younger sibling, Cypress. Executive Chef Don Drake refreshes classic dishes like fried green tomatoes (adding a dash of jalapeño) and cheddar grits with country ham (serving it with tomato chutney). As for the mains, his grilled filet is topped with pimento cheese, fried potato cake, and a madeira sauce. Brunch is served Sunday.

The atmosphere and service are classy without being pretentious, a sadly rare attribute. The food is delectable. I highly recommend the homemade potato chips, as well as the vanilla bean creme brulee. In between, the pan-seared mahi mahi is also an excellent choice. I highly recommend Magnolia's for a "nice" meal (it was ideal for our last night in town) that doesn't break the bank (shared appetizer, two entrees, shared dessert, coffee, and wine for about $100).

Our meal at Magnolias was wonderful. The shrimp and grits were delicious, as were the other entrees our party ordered. Homemade potato chips with blue cheese were addicting. One of the best meals on our 10 trip to Charleston/Hilton Head area. Good wine list also.

Great menu but incomplete execution. Back room was comfortable with huge original art on walls. Service was attentive but the food was merely acceptable and certainly not innovative.

Will go back for every special occasion. Nothing wrong with this place.
