Renaissance Charleston Hotel Historic District

Fodor's Review:

A sense of history prevails in this hotel, one of Charleston's newest upscale properties. Legend has it that British Admiral George Anson won this neighborhood, dubbed Ansonborough, in a card game in 1726. (Which is probably why his image is one the playing cards in the library lounge.) This upscale Marriott property has a warm, caring staff, a pool, and gentile characteristics such as guest rooms, which are smallish but have nice touches like period-style bonnet beds. The Wentworth Grill serves a mix of French and Lowcountry specialties.
