Shopping in Providence

Providence has a handful of small but engaging shopping areas. In Fox Point, Wickenden Street contains many antiques stores and several art galleries. Near Brown University, Thayer Street has a number of boutiques, but the high rents have led to an influx of chain stores. On the other hand, downtown's Westminster Street has morphed into a strip of independently owned clothiers, galleries, and design stores.
