Renaissance Providence Hotel

Fodor's Review:

The city's hippest hotel opened in 2007 inside one of its most mysterious buildings, a stately nine-story neoclassical 1929 building constructed as a Masonic temple but never occupied, as it was completed just after the Stock Market Crash. Developers have restored the building and even incorporated vintage graffiti found within its empty corridors into the arty, whimsical room design. Try to get a room overlooking the statehouse, across the street, and be sure to dine in the swank on-site restaurant, Temple Downtown. Pros: terrific location by mall and capitol grounds, super-cushy linens and bedding, you can custom-design your own in-room honor bar. Cons: some rooms have smallish windows.

  • Hotel Details: 269 rooms, 3 suites
  • In-room: safe, Internet.
  • In-hotel: restaurant, room service, gym, parking (paid).
  • Credit Cards: AE, D, DC, MC, V
