Fodor's Review

Parents of Brown and Rhode Island School of Design students book their stays in this three-story Italianate inn on historic Benefit Street a few years before graduation. You'll understand why when you see the lovely antiques, richly colored wallpaper, and authentic period lighting fixtures. Built in 1863 as a rectory, the house reflects the best of 19th-century style. Most of the comfortable, spacious rooms have nonworking marble fireplaces, and some have views of the

State House and downtown.
