Built in 1922, the Biltmore has a sleek art-deco exterior, an external glass elevator with delightful views of Providence, a grand ballroom, an Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa, and an in-house Starbucks. The personal attentiveness of its staff, downtown location, and modern amenities make this hotel one of the city's best. Plus, with its skyscraping neon sign, it couldn't be easier to find. Pros: truly the grande dame of Providence, suites are huge, an impressive spa. Cons: very pricey, not as modern and hip as some.

I stayed here one night, instead of the Radisson Providence Harbor, which looked like it was in a dodgy area. It was worth the extra cost. We got upgraded to a junior suite, complimentary, which had a flat screen tv in the bed area. The beds were super comfortable and had nice sheets and plenty of pillows. The bathroom was probably the only part of the room that didn't live up to the rest of the hotel. The hotel lobby is beautiful. There was no internet access in the rooms.
