Restaurants Overview

The Federal Hill neighborhood in Providence holds superlative Italian restaurants, and several dozen other restaurants in the city rival many of Boston's finest eateries.

The regional fare prepared in Rhode Island includes johnnycakes, a corn cake-like affair cooked on a griddle, and the native clam, the quahog (pronounced "ko-hog"), which is served raw, stuffed, fried, and in chowder.
