The spectacular 3½-mi Cliff Walk runs south along Newport's cliffs from Easton's Beach (also called First Beach) to Bailey's Beach. The promenade has views of sumptuous mansions on one side and the rocky coastline on the other; walking any section of it is worth the effort. The Cliff Walk can be accessed from any road running east off Bellevue Avenue. The unpaved sections can be difficult for small children, strollers, or people with mobility problems.

An excellent seaside walking trail, with great ocean vistas -- a must. About two-thirds is paved and easily accessible. Note well that the southernmost portion is in very primitive condition (extremely rough, rocky, and uneven, a major risk for ankle sprains or other injury) and not at all for anyone who isn't both fit and careful -- absolutely no one with small children, strollers, mobility problems, or similar difficulties should consider this stretch.
