Hydrangea House Inn Review

Rosie the house Bichon keeps watch at this mid-19th-century inn across the street from the Hotel Viking with decadent suites and rooms that exude romance. The dark and masculine Chesterfield Suite is a favorite, with its massive four-poster opulent bed and cheetah-print bathrobes. The owners have thought of every detail, including some flat-screen TVs that revert to gilt-frame mirrors when not in use. Some rooms have fireplaces, whirlpool tubs, and steam showers. Guests are treated nightly to a reception of wine and cheese, and rates also include a bountiful full breakfast, served family-style beneath a stunning crystal chandelier. Raspberry-stuffed pancakes are a favorite. Complimentary Wi-Fi and free long-distance and local calls are among the pluses.
