On the grounds of the prestigious Herreshoff boat manufacturing company, which produced some of the world's sleekest racing yachts during its operations from 1863 to 1945, the Herrefshoff Marine Museum traces the company's illustrious history. The museum contains some 60 vintage Herreshoff boats, some dating to the mid-19th century, including several that defended the prestigious America's Cup yacht races. Old ship engines, photographs, and memorabilia sheds further light on the museum heyday, often referred to as the "Golden Age of Yachting." On the grounds, the America's Cup Hall of Fame celebrates the careers of the many great yachting enthusiasts who have excelled during this seminal international sailing regatta.
