This tidy 1854 Victorian provides a restful retreat in the heart of Newport's bustling waterfront district. Period antiques decorate the rooms, each of which has either an antique brass or hand-carved wood bed. All rooms have access to the rooftop deck with a view of the harbor. Two rooms have semiprivate decks and hot tubs. The inn's namesake, Admiral Fitzroy, commanded the Beagle, whose most famous passenger was Charles Darwin. Pros: relatively affordable for the area. Cons: lots of crowds and some noise on Thames Street in summer.
