Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House

Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House Review

This late-17th-century residence presents a window on the Colonial and Revolutionary history of Newport. The dark-red building was the site of the city's Stamp Act riot of 1765. After the British Parliament levied a tax on most printed material, the Sons of Liberty stormed the house, which was occupied by a prominent Loyalist.
