This restored brick market building houses a museum that explores Newport's social and economic influences. Antiques such as the printing press of James Franklin (Ben's brother) inspire the imagination. Built in 1762 and designed by Peter Harrison, who was also responsible for the Touro Synagogue and the Redwood Library, the building also served as a theater and a town hall. The museum and the Newport Visitors' Information Center are departure points for walking tours of Newport; call for times.
