Norman Bird Sanctuary

Norman Bird Sanctuary Review

About 7 mi of trails, from 0.25-mi to 1.2-mi long, loop through this 325-acre sanctuary, which in summer provides refuge from downtown Newport's hustle and bustle. More than 300 species of birds, plus deer, fox, mink, dragonflies, turtles, and rabbits live in the fields and woodlands. From higher elevations you can see the ocean, some ponds, and the marshy lowlands. Exhibits at the visitor center explain the sanctuary's history and animal and plant life.
