Fodor's Review

More than a century old, the Newport Art Museum and Art Association has three buildings: the 1864 Griswold House designed by Richard Morris Hunt (a National Historic Landmark), the Cushing Gallery, and the Coleman Center for Creative Studies. The galleries exhibit works from the museum's impressive holdings and the local and regional contemporary art scene. In the museum's permanent collection are works by Fitz Henry Lane, George Inness, William Trost Richards, John La Farge, Nancy Elizabeth Prophet, Gilbert Stuart, and Helena Sturtevant, as well as contemporary artists like Dale Chihuly, Howard Ben Tre, and Joseph Norman.
