Newport County and East Bay Sights

Weetamoo Woods Review

There are more than 10 miles of walking trails in this 850-acre nature preserve that's home to a coastal oak-holly forest, an Atlantic white cedar swamp, two grassland meadows, Early American cellar holes, and the remains of a mid-19th-century village sawmill. The main entrance to Weetamoo Woods, a quarter-mile east of Tiverton Four Corners, has a parking area and a kiosk with maps. Weetamoo Woods takes its name from the last sachem of the Pocasset Tribe of Wampanoag Indians.
