Fodor's Review

A light-filled atrium lobby with marble floors and a nautical theme unfolds as you enter this luxury hotel on the harbor at Long Wharf. Rooms overlook the atrium, city, or waterfront. Fifth-floor rooms facing the harbor have sliding French windows that open onto large decks. Plasma-screen TVs and iPod docks are among the modern amenities.

Only good thing about the Marriott is the location

Just returned from four nights, 8/24-27/05 at the ridiculously overpriced hotel. Very few rooms have a view, and many rooms are interior rooms with windows on atrium. Parking in garage is $17 a day or $23a day for valet. Room was clean but shabby. Mattress was very thin. Sewage odor in hallway. Our bill, with no extras except valet parking was $1800. The staff was very polite and helpful. Newport is great, but this hotel is a ripoff.

Location can't be beat

I echo the other reviewer's comments. The location can't be beat. It's a great hotel, airy lobby, and fantastic staff. The on-site restaurant is not worth going to. If you've got the means, a great place to stay while in Newport.
