Norman Bird Sanctuary

Swans in the pond!

Norman Bird Sanctuary Review

Stroll through the woods or hike to the top of Hanging Rock for a spectacular view at this 325-acre sanctuary for more than 300 species of birds, plus deer, fox, mink, turtles, and rabbits. The sanctuary has about 7 miles of trails. The visitor center in a 19th-century barn highlights Rhode Island's natural history with a variety of wildlife and ecosystem exhibits spanning from the time of Native Americans before white settlers arrived to the present. The raucous dawn chorus of birdsong in the spring is one of the great wildlife experiences in Rhode Island.
