Fodor's Review

The design of this stately painted-brick house is attributed to Peter Harrison, the same architect behind Touro Synagogue and the Redwood Library. A lavish inn with period reproduction furnishings, the 1760 main house overlooks a private courtyard with a fountain and across the street to the harbor. All rooms have working gas fireplaces, and a dozen also have whirlpool tubs. A sumptuous breakfast is served in a domed-ceiling dining room. The owners also run the lovely Hilltop Inn, at the foot of Bellevue Avenue, a handsome Arts and Crafts house with similarly elegant rooms.
