What began as a smoothie bar on the back porch of the National Hotel has evolved into a standout sandwich joint, with hearty but healthy options, a varied vegetarian menu, and good people-watching. Active types stop by early for a black bean–and-avocado breakfast burrito and fair-trade coffee. Night owls roll in late morning for hangover-cure smoothies and the Grilled Pondsider, one of the best takes on a grilled cheese ever invented, with pesto, mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes, sunflower seeds, and spinach.
