Perched on a hill of floral gardens and undulating lawns, away from the hubbub of the Old Harbor area, this long, white, classic 1879 Victorian resort has big windows, high ceilings, a sweeping staircase, and lovely views. Most of the oak and maple furnishings in the rooms are original to the building. Each morning the inn's pastry chef prepares a buffet breakfast with fresh baked goods. The on-site restaurant is a favorite for a special occasion. Pros: Spectacular hilltop location; beautiful veranda for whiling away the afternoon; grand decor. Cons: no TVs in rooms.
