University City

Once known as the "Athens of America," Philadelphia claims an astonishing concentration of colleges and universities, nearly unrivaled in the country. Two of the larger institutions, the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University, are in an area dubbed University City in West Philadelphia. Here, too, is the University Museum, containing one of the world's finest archaeology and anthropology collections. One block north is the Institute of Contemporary Art, with its innovative exhibitions.
