Newspapers & Magazines

The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Philadelphia Daily News are the city's main daily newspapers. They share a Web site (www.philly.com). The two alternative weeklies are the City Paper (www.citypaper.net) and the Philadelphia Weekly (www.philadelphiaweekly.com). The monthly Philadelphia magazine (www.phillymag.com) contains listings and advertisements of interest to visitors as well as residents.

Radio & Television

AM radio: KYW 1060 plays news and weather, and WIP 610 dispenses all the vitriol of the average Philly sports fan. FM radio: Run by the University of Pennsylvania, WXPN 88.5 is the place for jazz and other types of music, WHYY 90.1 is the local National Public Radio affiliate, WMMR 93.3 focuses on album rock, WXTU 92 plays country, and WUSC 98.9 is known for urban contemporary.

The local affiliates of the major networks are channel 3, CBS; channel 6, ABC; channel 10, NBC; channel 12, PBS; and channel 29, FOX.
