Philadelphia Restaurants

Hostaria da Elio

Fodor's Review

The simple surroundings belie the sophistication of the chef, who prepares light-as-a-feather pastas with complex sauces. Spinach gnocchi with homemade tomato sauce and gnocchi with Gorgonzola-cheese sauce are both excellent. Go early to avoid the crowds.

Very good service mixed with mushy pasta, empty-shelled mussels, over-cooked tuna and an arrogant owner made for an easily forgetable experience. Tiramisu tasted like a Tastycake Eclair. This is not Italian food!!

If you want Italian, this is ITALIAN!!

Food, mamma mia, what food! Absolutely the best Penne Arrabiata I have had in ages and the Tilapia, so fresh, thought they just caught it. Baby clams tasty and sweet, with a broth you couldn't keep from dipping the italian flaky crusted bread into. The Italian Wedding Cake for desert was to die for! BYOB at it's BEST! One set back, and of course it's the heat of summer, too many flies on the patio, but it was our choice to sit outside. ALl in a

very pleasant evening.
