Penn's Landing and the Waterfront

Ever since William Penn sailed up the Delaware into Dock Creek, Philadelphia's waterfront has been a vibrant part of the city's life. Once home to sailing ships and counting houses and still one of the world's largest freshwater ports, Penn's Landing today has become a 37-acre-long riverside park, the site of concerts and festivals all summer long. It's also home to the Independence Seaport Museum and a flotilla of ship museums: the USS Becuna, the USS Olympia, and the Gazela of Philadelphia. A ferry link to the Adventure Aquarium and Camden Children's Garden in New Jersey has helped revitalize part of Camden's waterfront as well.
