Fodor's Expert Review Scott Paul Tasting Room and Winery

Yamhill-Carlton Winery

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

Pinot Noir fans, listen up: this small spot in the center of Carlton not only makes Pinot Noir from Oregon grapes, but it also imports and sells Pinot Noirs from Burgundy (as well as grower Champagne). The mainstay Pinot Noirs made from local grapes are Audrey, the finest wine of the vintage, and La Paulée, a selection of the best lots of each vintage. In addition, they'll make several other Pinots customized to the widely variable growing conditions each year in Oregon. All are splendid examples of the wines that can be made from this great, challenging grape. The tasting room, a quaint redbrick building, is across the street from the winery. Tours are by appointment only. Wine seminars are offered periodically, and private guided tastings are available by appointment.
