Mount Angel Abbey

Mount Angel Abbey Review

This Benedictine monastery on a 300-foot-high butte was founded in 1882 and is the site of one of two Modernist buildings designed by Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. A masterpiece of serene and thoughtful design, Aalto's library opened its doors in 1970, and has become a place of pilgrimage for students and aficionados of modern architecture.
