Stevens Crawford Heritage House

Stevens Crawford Heritage House Review

This site celebrates the contributions of two Oregon City natives: Harley Stevens joined the Emigrant Escort Service to help protect pioneers on the Oregon Trail, and he went on to become the first telegraph operator in Oregon City. Mary Crawford was an important member of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. When the house was built in 1908 it was one of the first homes to have indoor plumbing and both gas and electric light fixtures. Special events such as teas and luncheons provide a living-history lesson as the hosts wear era-specific attire.
