Sybaris Review

A rotating menu at this fine bistro in Albany's historic downtown changes momthly and features flavorful cuisine at reasonable prices. The restaurant strives to ensure that most of the ingredients, including the lamb, eggs, and vegetables, are raised within 10 miles. Even the huckleberries in the ice cream are gathered in secret locations by the restaurant's mushroom picker.

We chose this restaurant because it was a "Fodor's Choice" Bad idea!!
We made a reservation for 6:30 PM. Traveling for 10 days, we misjudged the travel time and arrived too early! Bad idea!!
Looking around as we waited and waited, we saw that the restaurant was 3/4 empty, but it was early and we assumed that maybe they had staffing issues. When we finally were seated, we were again ignored for a very long time and then we were called "early birds"! The waiter/host was not saying this in jest, he was chastising us for arriving early.
Next, he came back to our table and asked,"What
kind of wine have my "early birds" chosen?"
This was quite enough for us and we decided to leave.
The menu that we saw was uninventive and boring. The rest of the diners were an aging group who must enjoy be ridiculed and insulted.
The brick walls were not appealing to look at while being ignored.
We went to a lovely bistro nearby and had a fabulous meal and were treated with respect.
