The octagonal Coquille Lighthouse at Bullards Beach State Park, built in 1896 and no longer in use, stands lonely sentinel at the mouth of the Coquille River. From the highway the 2-mi drive to reach it passes through the Bandon Marsh, a prime bird-watching and picnicking area. The beach beside the lighthouse is a good place to search for jasper, agate, and driftwood. Note: 104 full hookups, 81 electrical $20; 13 yurts $27; horse camp $16; hiker/biker camp $4. B and C camp loops are closed October 1, 2007-May 15, 2008, while construction crews add 50-amp electric service and new water and sewer connections. The A loop and Yurt Village remain open.
