Fodor's Expert Review Blackbird
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
Laid-back and decidedly causal downtown Manzanita received a significant culinary boost with the opening of this sophisticated, locavore-driven bistro. The menu changes often but might feature fried cauliflower with lemon and harissa aioli; ricotta gnocchi with lamb bacon, shaved fennel, basil, and tarragon pesto; or steamed clams with prawns, smoked cippolini onions, and white wine cream—the fresh, uncomplicated food is attractively presented and sings with flavor. Save room for the rich dark-chocolate pot de crème topped with sea salt and caramel. Reservations are a good idea during busy times, as this intimate space has just a handful of tables plus several stools at the bar.
