Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area. A herd of wild Roosevelt elk, Oregon's largest land mammal, roams within sight. Abundant forage and a mild winter climate enable the elk to remain at Dean Creek year-round. William M. Tugman State Park. On Eel Lake near the town of Lakeside, a dense forest of spruce, cedar, fir, and alder surrounds the little-known park. Recreational activities include fishing, swimming, canoeing, and sailing.
