Skamania Lodge Review

So big you need a map, this warm, woodsy lodge impresses with a multitude of windows overlooking in the surrounding forests and gorge and an outstanding array of recreational facilities. The interior features Montana slate tiles, Native American artwork, and an immense wood-burning fireplace. "Skamania" is the Chinook word for "swift water," and the lodge's 175 acres are just a stone's throw from the Columbia River. Facilities include an 18-hole, par-70 golf course, three hiking trails, large indoor pool, a grass volleyball court, and—new in 2013—seven dramatic zip lines overlooking the gorge. Staff will pack you a lunch if you're going out for the day.
