Southeast

Bounded on the west by the Willamette River and in the north by Burnside Avenue, the Southeast neighborhood is typical Portland: funky, creative, hip. Packed with shade trees, Craftsman-style houses, and backyard chicken coops, this neighborhood is industrial close in (the river to 7th) and middle-class residential further out (8th to 82nd). Its vibrant pockets of foodie-approved restaurants,

as well as bars, coffee shops, and boutiques along east-west running Division, Hawthorne, Belmont, Stark, and Burnside streets, make the Southeast a Portland cultural must-see. Other features of this 'hood: the riverside, kid-focused science museum OMSI, and the sprawling park on the inactive volcano Mount Tabor.
