This European-style boutique property combines luxury with convenience. Its tastefully appointed rooms include entertainment-center armoires, work desks, plush beds covered with layers of down, and granite bathrooms with separate showers and tubs. Pioneer Square and MAX are two blocks away. The Daily Grill features traditional American fare in an upscale, casual atmosphere.

We went to Portland the last weekend in March for a weekend escape and decided to stay at the Westin mostly for its location and for the Westin's chains incredible beds. As soon as we pulled up to the hotel (a bit tricky as the hotel is on a busy street and there is very limited parking room) we were helped by the valet, doorman and baggage handler who had us, our faithful dogs and our lugagge out in an instant. The lobby is small and there was quite a line up. Check in however was efficient and we quickly found ourselves in an elegant, contemporary room with a great view and those wonderful Westin beds. The views are good and the washroom is bigger than many econo-hotel rooms. The Westin is close to everything in downtonw Portland so forget about the car (parking charges are steep but you are downtown). Room was spotless, comfortable (if a tad snug due to the large bed) very quiet and equipped with a large, flat screen TC, fridge and Keurig coffee maker.Service is efficient and food (both room service and at the on site Daily Grill) is very tasty and reasonably priced. The decor is earth tone and quite appealing unless you are partial to minimalist or avant garde furnishings. The Westin is excellent for those seeking to experience Portland by foot and wishing to splurge a little. By the way, this Westin does not have apet surcharge although the nearest green space is a block or two away.
