Avalon Hotel & Spa

Fodor's Review:

On the edge of Portland's progressive South Waterfront District, just a few minutes from downtown, this boutique property is nestled within the trees and tranquillity along the meandering Willamette River. Rooms range in size and are tastefully decorated with simple yet warm furnishings; most have a balcony. There are a full service spa and extensive fitness facility on-site. Aquariva, an Italian restaurant and wine bar on the premises, serves wonderful tapas and drinks. Pros : Great river views, nearby trails for walking and jogging, breakfast served on each hotel floor. Cons: Not in the heart of downtown, spa tubs in the fitness facility are not coed, steep overnight parking fee.
