Fodor's Review

The treasures at the Pacific Northwest's oldest arts facility span 35 centuries of Asian, European, and American art—it's an impressive collection for a mid-size city. A high point is the Center for Native American Art, with regional and contemporary art from more than 200 tribes. The Jubitz Center for Modern and Contemporary Art contains six floors devoted entirely to modern art, including a small but superb photography gallery, with the changing selection chosen

from more than 400 pieces in the museum's permanent collection. The film center presents the annual Portland International Film Festival in February and the Northwest Filmmakers' Festival in early November. Also, take a moment to linger in the peaceful outdoor sculpture garden. Kids under 17 are admitted free.

A Real Gem

Portland's collection covers a wonderful range of art interests; check out their Asian collection or Pacific Northwest Artists, then wander through the Modern Art wing and discover Monet's Water Lilies, not to mention Picasso, Brancusi, Flavin, Judd, Frankenthaler, Lichtenstein - the list goes on and on. Not to be missed!
