Fodor's Review:

The most authentic Japanese garden outside Japan is nestled among 5½ acres of Washington Park above the International Rose Test Garden. This serene spot, designed by a Japanese landscape master represents five separate garden styles: Strolling Pond Garden, Tea Garden, Natural Garden, Sand and Stone Garden, and Flat Garden. The Tea House was built in Japan and reconstructed here. The west side of the Pavilion has a majestic view of Portland and Mt. Hood. Take MAX light rail to Washington Park station and transfer to Bus No. 63. JUN 2007

  • Open: Oct.-Mar., Mon. noon-4, Tues.-Sun. 10-4; Apr.-Sept., Mon. noon-7, Tues.-Sun. 10-7.

We visited the gardens for the first time this past April and really enjoyed them. Beautiful flowers, trees, waterall and spectacular views of Portland can be seen from the gardens. A must-see for Portland visitors! :)
