A classic hotel restaurant, the Heathman prepares the fresh ingredients of the Pacific Northwest with a French twist. The menu, which changes daily and seasonally, includes entrées made with grilled and braised fish, fowl, lamb, and beef. You might find on the menu pork cheeks and scallops, with lentils, butternut squash puree and an herb salad. Equally creative choices are available for breakfast and lunch. The dining room, scented with wood smoke and adorned with Andy Warhol prints, is a favorite for special occasions. Reservations are recommended.

We had breakfast there twice, both times were excellent. Dinner there was equally good. Innovative presentation of the entrees.

For a restaurant with a long history of excellent and innovative cuisine in Portland, we were surprised that the reputation of the Heathman Restaurant is holding up. We had breakfast and brunch there recently and can report that both meals were very good, fresh and innovative examples of Northwest cuisine with excellent, helpful service.
