Fodor's Expert Review Smallwares
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
Chef-owner Johanna Ware happily admits to taking creative liberties in the kitchen of her high-ceilinged, contemporary bistro in the buzzy North Williams corridor, describing her restaurant concept as "small plates of inauthentic Asian cuisine meant to be shared." The airy dining room and patio make the perfect, vibrant milieu for sampling such creatively flavorful fare as lamb-and-pork dumplings, steamed clams with xo and Chinese sausage, and sauteed spring greens with chili oil. The bar offers an extensive selection of sakes and Asian-inspired cocktails. Known for: weekend brunch; Ssam family-style dinners (minimum six people, order 72 hours in advance); the burger with Sichuan bacon, Swiss cheese, peanut butter, and fried noodles.
