You Should Know There's no arguing Red Lion Hotel on the River - Jantzen Beach has amazing views. But Hayden Island isn't the most happening part of Portland. You're close to downtown, but if you want to be within walking distance of attractions and things to do in Portland, this location isn't going to be what you're looking for.

The rooms at Red Lion Hotel on the River - Jantzen Beach are definitely on the larger side and come equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including pillow-top mattresses, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and coffeemakers.
Tip Like we said, the main draw of this property is the views - upgrade to a premium room or deluxe suite on the river side of the hotel, where you can enjoy a view of the river from your own private balcony.

Red Lion Hotel on the River - Jantzen Beach is on Hayden Island, which doesn’t have the same kind of access to public transportation that you’d find elsewhere in the city. If you want to explore Portland, you should plan to bring a car (parking is free).

Menjiro (4-minute walk) is a nice casual spot on the island that specializes in Japanese comfort food (their ramen and sushi burritos are top notch). Another can’t miss spot is 3 Sheets At The Harbor (4-minute drive), a spot right on the harbor dishing up American classics with a PNW twist (like Pork Belly Frites and Local Foraged Mushrooms).
Bars
If you want a laid-back evening on Hayden Island, try Anchor Bar (8-minute walk), a sports bar famous for its massive 34oz beer mugs. If you want to venture off the island, try Tap Union Freehouse (6-minute drive), just a short drive over the I5 into Vancouver, WA, where you can sample 20 excellent rotating beers (many of which are local).
