Fodor's Review

The name refers to the tri-state area of Idaho, Oregon, and Nevada, but this humble museum actually focuses almost exclusively on Jordan Valley and the surrounding Oregon Owyhee country. The boxy house-turned-museum was originally built by Ambrose Elorriago, a Basque immigrant whose wife, Maria, refused to emigrate until her husband built a house identical to her family home in Spain. Many of the early-20th-century items around the home are from the Elorriaga family collection. Joanne, the friendly and knowledgeable sole curator, can elaborate on the region's ranching history and Basque heritage.
