It's the "Cheers" of Baker City-and everyone knows owner Tyler's name. A perennial winner at American beer festivals, their "Shredder's Wheat" American Wheat Ale recently beat out international contenders for a gold at the World Beer Cup. You can watch the process behind glass windows as they brew some eight different beers (for example, Hot Blonde jalapeño ale, Tank Slapper India pale ale). Barley Brown's also makes tasty grub, from burgers and quesadillas to spicy pastas and the occasional alligator. Tyler is committed to using local produce (the hand-cut fries are Baker County potatoes) and hormone-free beef.
