Deschutes National Forest

Fodor's Review:

This 1.6-million-acre forest has 20 peaks higher than 7,000 feet, including three of Oregon's five highest mountains, more than 150 lakes, and 500 mi of streams. A pass is required for all day and overnight use of the trailhead facilities in 13 national forests in Oregon and Washington.
