Richardson's Recreational Ranch

Fodor's Review:

Fifteen miles north of Madras, Richardson's Recreational Ranch has the largest concentration of thunder eggs in North America. You can also hunt for agates here. Rocks that you dig are weighed, then charged at 75 cents per pound.

  • Open: Store daily 7-5; must arrive by 3PMto dig; diggings dependent on weather, call for information. Note: digging generally closed Nov.-Mar.
