Fodor's Expert Review Park Hotel

234 Delaware Ave., Put-in-Bay, Ohio, 43456, USA

Arguably Put-in-Bay’s most elegant place to stay, this centrally located hotel attracts visitors who want to experience the history here, but with some of the modern features you’d find in a newer property. It was built as a hotel in the 1870s, when one of its big selling points was the fact that it had coil mattresses in an era where most beds were still stuffed with straw. It has naturally had a number of upgrades in the past 140 years, and while there still aren’t any phones or TVs in the rooms, all have individual heating and air-conditioning units and Wi-Fi.

PROS

  • excellent value for money
  • historic experience in the heart of town

CONS

  • shared bathrooms
  • central location means it can be noisy at night
  • minimum Friday-and-Saturday-night stay on weekends
