Dragonfly Neo-V

$$-$$$, Vegetarian, Short North

User Rating: *** 3.4

Fodor's Review:

Vegan cuisine gets a gourmet twist in this eatery at the cusp of the Short North and Victorian Village. The limited seasonal menu is built around local, organic ingredients. This isn't a retro hippie haven with sprouts and tofu, however. Expect bold, intense flavors, unlikely combinations and artistic presentations. Chef Magdiale Womark is serious about getting the freshest foods he can; a kitchen garden behind the restaurant helps fuel his creations. The stark, minimalist lines of the restaurant are repeated in the connected art gallery.

The anorexic Barbie diet.

I eat at many Indian restaurants and I particularly look forward to all you can eat buffets. My wife and I went there around lunchtime and had the summer brunch. Cost (with tip) was $50 for two summer brunches and one non-alcoholic drink. The total number of calories for both people was probably around 600 calories. The first part of the order, of two parts, was the buffet -- where you pluck small portions from several dinner plates and daintily drop them onto a 6"x6" square plate (which reminded me of a small ashtray from the 70's). If you are tiny and anorexic -- then this is the place for you, but if you are used to consuming 2500 to 3000 calories in one day then let this be your warning. Ounce for ounce, precious metals are still more expensive (and the cost, and size, of this brunch certainly brought to mind this comparison).
