Heck's Cafe
Heck's Cafe Review
This publike eatery in historic Ohio City has an open kitchen and a glass garden atrium filled with plants. A Cleveland institution, Heck's has been around for more than 40 years and is known for its bouillabaisse and (arguably) the best burger in town.

Heck's in Ohio City on Cleveland's near West Side might have the best burgers in the world outside of maybe Hubert Keller's Burger Bar in San Francisco. When it opened in the 1970's, it was almost impossible to get in without a considerable wait and eventually the operation spawned two more locations. Those days are long gone but surprisingly, the orignial location which has survived a fire and several closures is still with us. And even more surprising, everything is almost the same as it was way back when the doors first opened except the prices of course. Oh, the ultra decadent Burger Russe (caviar and sour cream) is long gone but all the other faves are still around. The burgers are huge as is the portion of accompanying fries which also come with a small individual bottle of Heinz ketchup too. There's a junior burger for those with a lesser appetite thankfully.
There's a bar service of mixed drinks and wines available by glass or bottle. Don't let that cause you to miss the special house blend of coffee though. Locals rave about the burgers but Heck's brews what may be one of the best tasting coffees around.
Parking is only available on the street. There is no valet service but I've never had a problem finding a space close by. Reservations aren't essential but might be a good idea on days when the local sport teams are in action.
Heck's is open for both Lunch and Dinner and there's a special brunch menu offered on Sunday along with the regular menu items too. -

I've had lots on the menu, lets just say that. I really love the Rocky River burger with it's bacon, blue cheese and sour cream. The fries are good too and I've had the seafood pasta dish, great. Coffee is a great ending with the fudge orange cake. You'll crave it.
